León Vargas[1] is the male protagonist in Disney Channel Latin America's original show, Violetta. He is a handsome, talented and passionate guy from Mexico and comes from a wealthy family. León attends On Beat Studio where he pursues his dream of music. He is a member of the boy band All For You with his friends. In addition to his musical interests, he participates in motorcross, another great passion of his.
León is portrayed by Jorge Blanco.
Personality
Although he is initially arrogant, conceited and full of himself, León is actually an honest guy with a golden heart.
Being a part of Ludmila's group, he acts rude and arrogant to secure his status. However, León's love for Violetta changes him into a better person. He starts acting nicer to the other students in the studio (except for Tomás who is his rival for Violetta's heart) and becomes friends with those he used to view as "uncool". He realizes that he doesn't enjoy being a mean person and finds more fulfilment and joy in working with others and being their friend.
León often takes charge in group assignments and possesses many leadership skills. He sometimes makes impulsive decisions when he is forced to make major decisions regarding his career and future.
He helps Violetta with many things and is shown to be very protective of her. However, he also has a tendency to become easily jealous. Despite this, his heart is always in the right place - wanting to support, protect and love her all he can.
Character History
Early Years
León was born in Mexico in the 1990s to his parents who are businesspeople. He started singing at four years old. He likely joined On Beat Studio (previously Studio 21) in 2009 or 2010.
Season 1
Part 1
When León is first introduced, he is shown to be arrogant and mean and he was also part of the popular group of the studio that dictates all the other students. However, when he discovers that his girlfriend Ludmila likes another boy, Tomás, he breaks up with her. To get even with Tomás, he selfishly decides to win over Violetta, Tomás' crush, but he soon falls deeply in love with her. Due to his newfound love, he changes his ways and transforms into a kind, supportive and outgoing friend to all the other students in the studio.
Part 2
As Violetta and León's relationship continues, they face many challenges. León shows his jealous side even more, when Broduey appeared, and when Tomás wouldn't give up the hope about Violetta. When Violetta's dad found out that she sang. In the last episode of Season 1/Episode 80, León and Tomás went to go say there final "bye"
Season 2
Part 1
At the beginning of the second season, León starts to practice motocross at the motocross track with his mechanic Lara, who later, becomes his girlfriend. He doesn't know on which thing to focus more on; the Studio or motocross; and he also wrote the song "Entre Dos Mundos" about his two passions: music and motocross. But later, he decides not to quit the Studio, as he planned before, so he said he will try to find time for both of his passions.
Part 2
At the end of Season 2, when he, Violetta, Francesca, and Diego went to Madrid, Spain to dance for YouMix Spain after winning the YouMix contest at Studio On Beat, León and Violetta started to have a stronger relationship and wanted to get back together, but they weren't sure. He saw Diego talking to Ludmila about their plan to ruin Violetta and get her out of the Studio, and he recorded a video of their conversation on his phone. Later, he talked to Francesca about that, and Violetta overheard them and watched the video, then she broke up with Diego and she and León sang Podemos together. Later, they decide to get back together and, and the show of the end of the year of Studio On Beat, after the students sang their final song, they kissed.

- He is the first Mexican to appear in Violetta. The other three are Marco, DJ and Gery.
- His name León means "lion" in Spanish, which is why he has that nickname.
- In multiple international versions, including the English version, his name is written as Leon.
- His name is pronounced "lay-on", but is pronounced "lee-yon" in the English version.
- His last name was confirmed to be Vargas by one of the producers of Violetta[1]. However, his full name hasn't been mentioned until the movie.
- He can play the guitar, the piano, and the drum.
- León is the second character to be framed for breaking someone else’s guitar, the first is Camila.
- He started singing around the age of 4.
- In Season 1, Tomás is his rival, in Season 2, Diego is his rival, and in the final season, Clement could be considered his rival.
